Midwinter Apollon Lykeios and Apollon Prostaterios festival

*modern festival*

Posted originally on the Alaska Shrine of the Letoide facebook page.

As a prelude honoring the return of Helios, on the evening following the celebrations of Poseidonia on December 21st, the shrine is conducting midnight rites in honor of Apollon Lykeios and Prostaterios.  It honors the bringer of light, lord of twilight, wolfish one who tears asunder all evil, Apollon as Lord before the doors, opener of the doors as making way gor Helios who bathes himself, renewing himself in the sea to rise in an environment of purity. Bells will be clanked, fierce masks worn, and multitudes of candles lit

Please comment if you would like a candle lit in your name or the name of another who you would like to receive these blessings and on whose behalf you would like offerings made.
